Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru) in a statement reminded the public to be wary of a pop-up scam aimed at extracting personal information from unassuming Internet users.
The scam, which informs users that they are the ‘lucky’ winners of mobile phones, includes the unauthorised use of the TelBru logo and directs users to complete a survey, after which they are required to pay a certain amount of money for the delivery of their ‘gift’.
“TelBru would like to emphasise that the company will not ask for payments of such kind under any circumstances, unless directly related to the company’s services, such as bill payment through the company’s official, protected, and secured online channels such as their website and the My TelBru mobile application,” said TelBru in its statement.
“TelBru also advises individuals, who come across such sites, to refrain from sharing any and all personal information including, but not limited to, name, IC number, home address and banking details.”
The public can report fraudulent scams of this medium to the TelBru Call Centre at 111, or at any of its social media platforms.
