Students get lessons in patriotism

The Information Department of the Prime Minister’s Office through its Nationhood and Community Division yesterday held a briefing on ‘Our Ruler, Appreciating the National Flag and the National Anthem of Brunei Darussalam’ at Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien College’s Auditorium in the capital.

Some 165 teachers and students of Year 7 of the school attended.

The briefing was part of a continuing programme by the Information Department at the Prime Minister’s Office aiming to instil a sense of patriotism among students, as well as to develop within them a feeling of respect and appreciation towards their country, religion, and the monarchy.

Head of Nationhood Unit and Information Officer Mohammad Hisyam bin Idris conducted the briefing.

The students also watched video presentation on proper way to hoist the national flag.

A quiz was also hosted by the Information Department, with prizes being awarded to students who have answered correctly by the Principal of the college.
