Around 130 students are currently attending an orientation programme at the Berakas Secondary School (SMB), as part of their educational transition from Year 6 to Year 7.
The programme was initiated with a briefing by SMB Principal Alexander bin Bandang, who said that since 1971, the school has been producing excellent students who hold important career posts.
“In line with the school’s vision of ‘Striving towards Excellence’, every Year 7 student is hoped to work hard to excel in all fields, including academic, discipline and character,” he said. Following the principal’s remarks, the new students and their parents listened to talks by the School Administration and Academic Sections, the School Operations Manager, the Growth Mindset Section, and a representative from Insurans Islam TAIB.
Later, the parents were introduced to the students’ class teachers.
The three-day orientation period includes briefings on health, safety, security and environment (HSSE); discipline; co-curriculum activities; and career, as well as other ice-breaking and interactive activities.
