Brunei’s futsal club Shah United will look to build on their experience of playing competitively overseas after they joined the Powernet International Futsal Tournament 2020 at the Stadium Indera Mulia in Ipoh, Perak from January 15-19.

The local club, who represented the country in the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Club Championship in 2017, have been drawn alongside Thailand’s CAT FC, Malaysia’s Perak FC, and Indonesia’s Bank Sumut FC.

Shah United began their campaign in a 10-1 defeat against CAT FC before concluding the preliminary round stage against hosts Perak and Bank Sumut.

After a tough encounter against the Thai outfit, the club said that they would further enhance their quality of play and finishing in future matches.

Before their trip to Ipoh, the club enhanced their preparations by sparring with local clubs Almerez FC and MS ABDB.

In the lead-up to the tournament, the Shah United players took part in gym sessions as well as stair climbing and footwork drills at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium. To test their fitness levels, they also made rounds at the stadium’s track.
