Seven individuals allegedly involved in illegal car racing were detained by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) in a surprise operation last Sunday.

The suspects were found racing their cars down the road in the immediate proximity of the Tutong District Civic Centre Complex during an operation led by Tutong District Traffic Investigative Officer ASP Dayangku Husmawati binti Pengiran Hussin, Tutong District Assistant Traffic Investigative Officer ASP Maressa binti Morsidi and Officer-in-Charge of Tutong Police Station ASP Ahmad Faez bin Haji Mohd Hani, together with Senior Enforcement Officer at the Land Transport Department Sheikh Mohd Yusri bin Sheikh Haji Abdul Kadir.

The suspects, all in their early 20s, were arrested, and their vehicles taken to the Tutong Police Station for further investigation.

Later, the cars were transferred to the Land Transport Department for additional inspection.

In a statement, the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) warned against the use of public roads as racing tracks, since it could pose a danger to others.

“The police will not compromise in taking action according to the law,” said the RBPF statement.
