The Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) yesterday presented school aid to 39 students affected by the recent fire at Kampong Pengiran Bendahara Lama in Kampong Ayer.
The handover was held at the BDRCS Emergency Assistance and Disaster Management Secretariat at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
BDRCS Secretary General cum Director General of Emergency Assistance and Disaster Management Sheikh Haji Kadir bin Abdullah presented the school aid to 23 primary students and 16 secondary school students.
The school aid is to ease the burden of the families affected by the blaze, and is also a BDRCS initiative to assist children from underprivileged families.
The ‘BRC School Aid’ programme was introduced in 2014 and has since helped 370 children.
The assistance come from public contributions through the BDRCS Ikhlas project held each year.
BDRCS also presented BRC Food Aid to fire victims of Kampong Pengiran Bendahara Lama at their temporary shelters.
BDRCS, through its Emergency Assistance and Disaster Management Secretariat, is ready to assist government agencies in any emergency and disaster management in the country.
