The Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) water polo team emerged as champions after defeating the Special Forces Regiment with a 4-3 penalty shootout win at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Water Polo Championship finals at Rimba Air Force Base Sports Complex yesterday. Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) finished third.
Meanwhile, the RBLF swimming team dominated the Swimming Championship finals and were the overall winners with a total of six gold, two silver and two bronze medals. The Special Forces Regiment (SFR) and Ministry of Defence (MinDef) came in second and third place respectively. This year’s Swimming Championship featured eight individual events and two team events.
The finale featured a special event, 4×50 metres freestyle combined match of ranks for officers, senior non-commissioned officers and junior non-commissioned officers in which the RBLF emerged champions followed by SFR and the Training Institute RBAF.
Commander of the RBAF Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud presented the prizes.
The championship, which began on January 20, saw participation from six teams namely RBLF, RBN, Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF), Training Institute RBAF, MinDef and SFR.
