Preparing students, teachers for fire emergencies

The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) held a briefing on fire prevention and the proper ways of using fire extinguishers for 28 teachers and 278 students from the Nusa Jaya Primary School in Tutong District recently.

Operation ‘E’ Branch Public Relations Division and the Fire Safety/Enforcement and Investigations Unit as well as Logistics Unit were involved.

The briefing was delivered by Station Officer Hamdani bin Sidek along with four personnel to enhance the safety steps and public awareness on using fire extinguishers and fire blankets.

The FRD reminded the public that fires can happen at any time and it is important to increase alertness and take safety precautions in unpredictable weather as well as not to panic during emergencies and to contact hotline 995.

The public is also reminded to ensure the installation and connection of electrical wiring should be done by an accredited person with approval from the Department of Electrical Services.
