PMS Veteran sealed consecutive victories in the Al Idrus Football League and FA Cup Championship after they defeated Mangellela Veteran FC 2-1 at the Tutong Sports Complex on Friday.

In the first half, both teams looked to find their rhythm and traded attacks. Six minutes into the match, PMS found the opener after Johan Haji Zinin planted a firm header having connected from a cross by Rosli Awangku Bujing.

In the 12th minute, PMS were awarded a penalty but the chance to go further ahead was dashed as Zepri Haji Ahmad’s attempt was saved by the Mangellela goalkeeper.

The advantage was doubled early in the second half as Johan netted his second goal of the game a minute after the restart when he raced clear and provided an expert finish.

Two minutes later, Zepri was unlucky not to add his name on the score-sheet after his shot grazed against the crossbar.

Mengellela halved the deficit in the 72nd minute as Zulkarnain managed to escape the defence before slipping the ball into the net.

Drawn in Group ‘D’ alongside SM Veteran, ITF, Mangellela FC and Al-Idrus SC, PMS started their campaign with a 3-0 win over Al Idrus SC.

The tournament features players aged 50 and above.
