Patriotic talk for Year 7 students

The Nationhood Unit of the Nationhood and Community Division at the Information Department under the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) yesterday held a talk on ‘Our King, Appreciating the National Flag and National Anthem’ for 112 Year 7 students of Rimba Secondary School.

The talk, held at the school’s multipurpose hall, began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by the singing of the national anthem Allah Peliharakan Sultan and patriotic song Kibarkan Bendera.

Assistant Information Officer Hajah Noorhijrah binti Haji Idris delivered the talk on topics related to the history of Brunei’s national anthem and flag as well as its meaning, concept and spirit.

She also provided information on the procedures of raising and lowering the national flag.

The talk continued with a video presentation on Kibarkanlah Dengan Megah Bendera Negara, Semarak Pengibaran Bendera Negara and an animation on Tatacara Menaikkan Bendera Negara.

Quizzes were later carried out where the students won prizes.

The talk was aimed to increase students’ national pride, giving them a better understanding of the national anthem and flag and instil love towards the religion and the monarchy to strengthen solidarity.

The school’s Deputy Principal (Administration) Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Bujang, senior education officers, teachers and staff were present.
