Starting today, the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults for 1441 Hijrah/ 2020 will be held for three consecutive nights at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC), under the theme ‘Generating Blessings with Al-Quran’.
A full rehearsal was held at the ICC yesterday, witnessed by Minister of Religious Affairs and Chairman of the Executive Committee for Major Islamic Calendar Events for 1441 Hijrah and the upcoming Al-Quran reading finals Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman.
Also in attendance were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar. Twelve contestants will compete in this year’s final comprising six Qaris and six Qariahs Al-Quran readers selected from the semi final.
The Qaris are Haji Muhammad Fikri bin Haji Metussin, Pengiran Amirul Aiman bin Pengiran Haji Marjuki, Muhammad Zul Hafiz bin Tengah, Muhammad bin Ali, Haji Nasrul Fakhri bin Haji Yahya and Haji Mahrof bin Haji Chuchu.
The six Qariahs finalists are Dayangku Fauziah Nadhirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofre, Dayangku Siti Ummi Syazana binti Pengiran Haji Marjuki, Hajah Norhafidzah binti Haji Hassan, Dayangku Amal Zahirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofre, Dr Siti Wardah binti Major (Rtd) Haji Abdul Rahman and Siti Zahrina binti Haji Abdul Wahab.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Seruddin bin Haji Timbang and other executive committee members were also present.
