The public can use their debit or credit card to pay for the application fee of the travel document (passport) under the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) starting tomorrow.
The new facility was launched by Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) Open Day at The Mall, Gadong yesterday. The latest initiative is among INRD’s efforts to make it easier for the public to make payments.
The minister also officiated the new product logo ‘INSAF’ from the Prisons Department. The new product rebrands products by the Vocational Section, especially products by inmates undergoing rehabilitation at correctional institutions. INSAF denotes the journey to self-awareness and redemption and is designed locally as a recognisable and unique emblem for the inmates’ efforts in rebuilding their lives beyond prison walls.
The Prisons Department’s guidance for inmates in their rehabilitation programmes extends to both spiritual and physical development including providing vocational training to equip them with job skills.
It is hoped that the public will recognise the efforts and support the Prisons Department’s rehabilitation programmes by purchasing INSAF products.
The minister also launched the ‘One Village, One Product’ (1K1P) website which contains products from all four districts.
The 1K1P website aims to promote and further expand the product line to the local and international markets. The website contains pictures of the products as well as pricing and entrepreneurs’ contact details.
