The Brunei Council on Social Welfare (MKM) handed over a BND4,663 cheque to Anthony Abell College, Seria for the needy students yesterday.

MKM Deputy President Hajah Johana binti Haji Jaya presented the cheque to Principal Mas Diana binti Abdul Samat.

The money will help pay the outstanding school fees for 18 needy students and to make school uniforms for 35 female and 40 male students.

Hajah Johana said MKM maintains an ongoing education fund where it accepts donations from the public.

“We are always on the lookout for deserving cases where we can assist them. The fund is used, in this case, to help needy students meet their schooling expenses – including school fees, transportation charges and stationeries and utensils needed for the school programme. This is an ongoing programme aside from the end of year ‘Back To School’ programme that MKM does,” she said.
