A male permanent resident facing charges in the Magistrate’s Court of hiring two men for sexual services, promising payment and then thieving from them has hired a lawyer and is now out on bail.
Chief Magistrate Pengiran Masni binti Pengiran Haji Bahar made the order while also giving time for the prosecution to finalise the case before proceeding against Md As-Shaliheen bin Abdul Quddus Ong @ Alister Ong Wee Yee.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Firdaus Mohammad’s standing charges are alleging the defendant of first obtaining sexual services from the first victim and promising him payment, while also stealing three pieces of clothing from the victim, at Kampong Tanah Jambu just before midnight on December 18, 2019.
It was then sometime between 1am and 3am on December 25, 2019 that the defendant allegedly obtained the sexual services from the second victim and promising him payment, while also stealing a Samsung S6 mobile phone and three pieces of clothing from the victim.
The theft charges each carry penalties of three years’ jail, a fine or both.
The other charges carry penalties of a year’s imprisonment each, and a fine ranging between BND1,000 and BND5,000.
For second or subsequent conviction of the same charges, penalties are increased to three years’ jail, and fines ranging between BND2,000 and BND10,000.
The court adjourned the case to January 20.
