His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam made an unscheduled visit to the Ministry of Development and the departments under it yesterday.
Upon arrival at the Ministry of Development at Old Aiport, Berakas, His Majesty was greeted by Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar.
The monarch visited the Lands Department, the Town and Country Planning Department, and the Survey Department.
His Majesty toured several sections including Lands Management and Alienation Section, Control and Enforcement Section, and Application and Land Use Section. The department ensures land planning and use are optimal in balancing the country’s socio-economic development needs.
The monarch then visited the Town and Country Planning Department, a department that plays an important role in providing plans as guide for distribution coordination of land use for socio-economic development sectors to support the Vision 2035.
The monarch visited the Survey Department’s Geospatial Mapping Section which is responsible for collecting digital mapping data and the production of various types of maps, formats and scales across the country.
His Majesty proceeded to visit the Housing Development Department. The department is responsible for planning, designing and implementing as well as managing the National Housing Scheme.
The housing sector under various national housing schemes continues as the main focus of the Brunei Government towards ensuring the well-being of the people.
The monarch was seen inspecting the filing sections, payment counters and facilities provided in each of the departments.
Throughout the visit, His Majesty was seen mingling with officers and staff and consented to take photos with staff members of the department as well as members of the public.
His Majesty returned to the ministry’s headquarters for a get-together with officers and staff where His Majesty delivered a titah.
