The 7th Pelangi Awards by Radio Television Brunei (RTB) was held at the Jerudong Park Amphitheatre last night to acknowledge local talents in the music industry.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin was the guest of honour.
Permanent secretaries and deputy permanent secretaries from the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, as well as senior officers and members of the public were also present.
Five artistes were nominated for awards in five different categories last night.
The winner for the Male Vocal Choice Award went to Rapul Rezal, while the Female Vocal Choice Award was won by Ezah Hashim, whereas Alilah and Irfan won the Duo/Group Vocal Choice Award.
Meanwhile, Syafiqah Rosli won New Artiste Choice, while Tertulis composed and sang by Ezah Hashim and written by Sang Hikayat won Song Choice.
The Inspirational Song Choice Award was bagged by Semberono, composed by Juan Madial, written and sung by Aznniel Yunus, Afiq Wafi, Indra and Juan Madial.
Dila Junaidi won the Music Video Choice for her song Rasa Ini Cinta, directed by Maman Shahrunezam and produced by Mancientry.
This year’s Exclusive Award went to Maria, in recognition of her contributions in the field of music locally, regionally and internationally.
Each winner received BND2,000, a trophy and a certificate.
The Pelangi Awards acts as a platform to expose local talents in singing, music, composing and songwriting and it has become a benchmark in measuring the work and popularity of local artistes domestically and internationally.
