A lively musical evening serenaded the crowd at the annual MKM Live 2020 organised by the Brunei Council on Social Welfare (MKM) at the Jerudong Park Amphitheatre last night.
The night was a blend of live singing performances, memorable solos and funny jokes by comedic duo, Kevin and Yazid from BruHaHa in their capacity as co-hosts.
Present were Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Cultural) at the MCYS Dr Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah.
The rich resonant voice of female singer Maya warmed up the crowd as the first performer of the night. This was followed by aspiring singer Aznniel with his rendition of popular hits. Prior to the break, Eia also came up on stage to belt out her originals songs followed by JYZ, performing acoustic versions of famous pop songs. Male rapper Zed Peace then got the crowd pumping with his hip-hop performance in the second half of the live show.
The highlight of the night was a mesmerising performance by Fakhrul Razi. He entertained the crowd with his own popular songs, including Keris Sakti, the soundtrack for the Malaysian animation series Upin & Ipin.
Fakhrul Razi is no stranger to MKM fundraising concerts, as he has been actively involved since the very first event.
Also present were members from Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA), Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam and the Down Syndrome Association (ABLE).
MKM said 70 per cent of the proceeds from the fundraising event will go to re-building the dilapidated house of one of MKM’s elderly clients, Jamping binti Haji Shawal, who is an 80-year-old single mother in Kampong Madang.
The remaining 30 per cent will be distributed to other MKM local projects that are run for those in need in the Sultanate.
Since its establishment in 2009, MKM has worked tirelessly to assist those in need through various projects, including organising humanitarian missions to assist the Rohingyan refugees in Bangladeshi camps.
