The Law Society of Brunei Darussalam and the Bar Council of Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Bandar Seri Begawan on Wednesday.

Signing on behalf of the Law Society was its President Pengiran Izad Ryan bin Pehin Laila Kanun Diraja Pengiran Haji Bahrin, while the Bar Council of Malaysia was represented by its President Dato’ Abdul Fareed Abdul Ghafor, who was here for the opening of the Legal Year 2020 at the Brunei Supreme Court.

Recognising the long-standing relations, both parties cemented their mutual aspirations with the signing of the MoU.

This is to further enhance bilateral relations, pushing the scope of their cooperation in terms of the legal and social interaction.

Further legal education and training for the members is in the pipeline.

Another objective will be for the organisations to give access to members for short-term attachments with legal firms.
