More than 50 diploma and degree students of Kolej International Graduate Studies (KIGS) had an inspirational and motivational session with CEO and Lead Trainer of Perspective Insan (PI) Academy, Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Iswandy bin Ahmad, who was the facilitator of the IMPETUS Programme (Inspirational and Motivational Programme for Students).
A Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project of PI Academy, the programme featured a mini workshop in a roadshow format where no fees were levied.
Yang Berhormat Iswandy in a brief interview noted that the programme shares study tips especially for the students and also how they can make a difference after their studies and sharing sessions on how to bounce back especially when dealing with failures and how to motivate themselves.
“It can be hard when you are studying, so this programme helps to make better and informed decisions. It is good to have a study plan but if there are failures, it’s good to have a plan to get back up. For many, failure is the end. They don’t know how to bounce back and this is where support can come in,” he added.
Yang Berhormat Iswandy pointed out that they are doing this because there is a lack in motivational programmes for students at higher learning institutions as most of the motivational speakers have retired. Nowadays with the pressure of mental health issues and stress, this is where PI helps students.
The programme serves to raise students’ awareness on their responsibilities in gaining knowledge, inculcates talent by developing skills and assists target groups to make rational choices in raising productivity and success.
Tuesday’s talk featured self-motivation, management of individual time and schedule, self-discipline and concluded with a question and answer session.
PI Academy is a capacity building agency that provides practical tools and skills in developing talent.
Its workshops, training and programmes are hoped to assist students, job seekers and young professionals in the form of crash courses, offering seminars, discussions and full day courses that include case studies, role play and group discussions.
The programme at the college Business Marketing Communication Centre was officiated and attended by several lecturers at the college.
