The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested three males and one unemployed female for consumption of illegal drugs at a residence in Tutong District recently. The four are aged between 22 and 38.
Upon inspection, one of the male suspects was found to possess potted plants as well as plastic packets containing dried leaves – both believed to be cannabis.
The other two male suspects were found to have plastic packets believed to contain methylamphetamine.
Investigations into this case are ongoing under:
– Section 8 of Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA), for the cultivation of cannabis that carries a minimum penalty of three years’ imprisonment, a fine of BND5,000 or both and maximum penalty of 20 years of imprisonment, a fine of BND40,000 or both;
– Section 6(a) of MDA, Chapter 27 for the possession of controlled drugs that carries a penalty of imprisonment of up to 10 years, a fine of BND20,000 or both;
– Section 6(b) of MDA, Chapter 27 for the consumption of controlled drugs that carries a penalty of imprisonment of up to 10 years, a fine of BND20,000 or both; and
– Section 7 of MDA, Chapter 27 for the possession of utensils used for drug consumption that carries a penalty of imprisonment of up to three years, a fine of BND10,000 or both.
