Flood victims receive donations from Tiong Hua

Flood victims in the Belait District received cash donations amounting to BND9,100 from several businesses and associations among the Tiong Hua Community at the VIP Room of the Brunei-Muara District Office yesterday.

Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin initiated and led the donation drive.

Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin said that as a sense of solidarity and concern towards the community in need including victims of natural disasters, the Chinese community is always ready to reach out and give a helping hand regardless of race or religion.

“We always make a move to help out the local community here and more when they are hit by natural disasters. Our Chinese community will round up some form of donations, be it cash, materials or assistance, we are always ready to step forward,” he said.

On hand to receive the donations on behalf of the Belait Charity Fund was Belait District Officer Haji Ramlee bin Haji Jamudin, in the presence of Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer Mohd Yassin bin Haji Ali.

The donating associations were Hua Ho Department Store, Brunei Hokkien Association, Tiong Hua Brunei Darussalam Chamber of Commerce, Kuang Hui Association, Concepts Computer and Lim Han Chiong.
