A Filipino was thrown behind bars by the Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Magistrate Hajah Ervy Sufitriana binti Haji Abdul Rahman handed three months’ jail with three whippings to Binaro Claudio Lastimoso after hearing from DPP Dr Mohd Hussin Ali bin Idris that the defendant was found to have entered Brunei illegally sometime in December 2019 using a boat from Malaysia, without using a passport and stayed in Brunei to look for employment.

The police arrested the defendant at Jerudong Beach before he could go out fishing at sea at 9am on Tuesday.

The case was handed over to the Immigration and National Registration Department for investigations and confirmed the defendant’s illegal act.
