DPMM FC stay on top after narrow Hawa win

DPMM FC preserved their title interest in the NFABD Under-16 Youth League after they edged 10-man Hawa FT 1-0 at the Arena Sports Complex recently.

The league leaders remained on top of the 11-team table by a single point but having played a game more than title rivals Tabuan.

The Jerudong-based side survived a tricky test after Mohd Akram Waqeel bin Bakri struck eight minutes from time.

Hawa had to play the last 15 minutes with 10 men after Omar Abdul Iqram bin Mohd Amin was dismissed from the match for a second offence.

DPMM FC can go four points clear off second-placed Tabuan if they navigate their way past Projek Ikan Pusu this Friday at the Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in what appears to be another stern test to their title hopes.

However, defending champions Projek Ikan Pusu will not be pushovers having picked up some form after a comfortable 4-0 win over basement dwellers PMS Junior.

Mohd Danish Bazli bin Mohd Sumady and Mohd Saiful Mahri bin Sambri both netted braces during the triumph.

Meanwhile in another match, Indera SC saw a two-goal lead slip as they were held to a 3-3 draw at the Kilanas Community Field.

Bang Dalam opened the scoring through Elmie Eszualdynn bin Nordin in the sixth minute before Mohd Danial Hakeem bin Haji Lamit replied for the visitors two minutes later.

Indera took the lead after Mohd Danial doubled his tally in the 38th minute before Muhd Sharafil Zul Izzad bin Sahrizam helped build a two-goal cushion three minutes later.

Addy Affandy bin Ariffin handed Bang Dalam a lifeline after he found the net in the 52nd minute before denting Indera’s hopes of a fourth-place finish with a last-gasp equaliser.

Indera SC have another chance to climb to fourth in the table if they collect three points against fourth-placed Hawa FT in their next match at the Kilanas Community Field.

The NFABD Under-16 Youth League returns this Friday with Rimba Star FC taking on Setia Perdana while FC Phosphor entertain PMS Junior FC.
