Donations flow for fire victim fund

The Kampong Pengiran Bendahara Lama Fire Victim Fund received yet another donation from local community members and businesses with BND21,400 received at a donation ceremony at the Theatre Hall of the Brunei-Muara District Office yesterday.

Present as the guests of honour and receiving the donation on behalf were Permanent Secretary (Municipal and District) at the Ministry of Home Affairs Salminan bin Haji Burut and Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, co-chairpersons of the fund.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Ong Tiong Oh presented his personal contribution of BND1,000, followed by Low San Hardware with BND1,000 and Chang Ein Hong Watch Dealer with BND2,000.

Also presenting donations were the Fuzhou Shiyyi Association led by its President Jackson Ting, D’Sunlit Sdn Bhd with BND5,000 and the rest of its executive committee members. The association donated BND17,400 contributed by the advisor and management committee members.

Yesterday’s ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed with the presentation of donations.

The first few donations were received by Salminan and followed with Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan. Senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports were also present.
