Chinese Vice Minister visits tourist attractions

People’s Republic of China’s Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism Zhang Xu visited several tourist attractions in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday.

Accompanying Zhang Xu were Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam Yu Hong and officials.

The Chinese delegation first visited the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque.

Zhang Xu toured the interior of the mosque and was presented with a book by officials of the mosque.

The vice minister then moved on to visit the Royal Regalia Museum.

On hand to welcome the arrival of Zhang Xu were Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Cultural) at the MCYS Dr Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah as well as officials from the Museums Department and Tourism Development Department.

The Chinese visitors were given a tour of exhibits commemorating the Silver and Golden Jubilee celebrations of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

Capping off the visits, the vice minister went on a river cruise to visit the Kampong Ayer Cultural and Tourism Gallery.
