Members of Buddhist Light International Association of Brunei Darussalam (BLIA Brunei) and Taiwan Business Association in Brunei Darussalam organised a beach clean-up at Tungku Beach yesterday.

Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam Andrew Lee, Taiwan Business Association of Brunei Darussalam President Richard Chuang Hsi Shan and other officials participated. A total of 20 bags of rubbish were collected.

Lee said, “Kicking off the new year by taking part in an activity carrying educational and environmental significance is meaningful.

“The beach clean-up is to answer the urgent call for action to preserve our ocean and forests, and to echo the ideals and goals long upheld by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” he added.

He said, “The associations have my admiration for proactively engaging in environment-related events. We look forward to working closely with them in the future.”
