Assistance pours in for the needy ahead of CNY celebration

In preparation for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration, several local agencies and organisations visited the rural areas of the Belait District as part of the Titian Amal Chinese New Year Charity Drive yesterday.

Among the organisations and agencies involved were Persatuan Kereta Tahan Lasak Brunei (PKTLB), the Lotus Light Charity Society (LLCS), Belait Lions Club and NRC Motor & Rakan-Rakan.

Leading the group was Chairman of the PKTLB Abidin bin Haji Musa who was accompanied by 32 members of the PKTLB, Vice President Lim Sam Lee with 20 members from LLCS, Belait Lions Club President Joseph Teo with seven members, Chairman Zainudin bin Haji Md Yusof with NRC Motor & Rakan-Rakan members.

As the group journeyed across the rural areas of the Belait District, they stopped by several key locations to deliver food and basic necessities as well as red envelopes (Ang Pao) to four families residing at Jalan Kechil Sigagat as well as 12 families in the surrounding area of Kampung Labi, who had gathered at Chung Hwa School Labi hall during the charity drive.

Also present were Legislative Council member, Acting Penghulu of Mukim Labi and Village Head of Kampung Labi 1 Yang Berhormat Hanapi bin Mohd Siput and President of PKTLB Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Bungsu. Both of them also joined in the handing over of donations to the families.
