72nd Independence Day of Myanmar marked

The Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Brunei Darussalam hosted a dinner reception to celebrate its 72nd anniversary of the Independence Day of Myanmar at the Indera Samudra Grand Hall of The Empire Brunei last night.

Representing the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong and spouse Datin Hajah Norhaida binti Haji Sulaiman.

The event started with the singing of the national anthems of both countries followed by a welcoming speech by Ambassador of Myanmar to Brunei Darussalam U Htin Lynn, in which he highlighted the strong diplomatic ties between Brunei and Myanmar since 1993.

“Twenty-seven years on, continued efforts are being made to further intensify friendly relation between the two countries and people,” he said.

The ceremony continued with a cake-cutting ceremony by the minister and spouse, with U Htin Lynn and spouse. Traditional Myanmar performances also enlivened the night.

Members of the Diplomatic Corps and guests were also present.
