JOHOR BAHRU (BERNAMA) – A total of 212 victims from 59 families in the state were evacuated following flash floods and thunderstorms in four districts on Wednesday evening.
However as of 12 noon yesterday, the number of victims from the affected districts namely Johor Bahru, Kulai, Kluang and Pontian, dropped to 160.
According to Local Government, Urban Wellbeing and Environment Committee chairman Tan Chen Choon the relief centre in Kluang was closed at noon yesterday.
He said the three remaining relief centres are the Kampung Melayu Batu 10 Community Hall in Johor Bahru, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sri Bunian in Pontian and Kampung Saleng Community Centre in Kulai.
As of noon, he said the number of people at the relief centre in Johor Bahru has been reduced to 116 from 120 yesterday.
“At SK Sri Bunian in Pontian there are 31 victims from six families, while in Kulai, 22 victims from six families are still seeking shelter at the Kampong Saleng Community Hall,” he said in a statement.
