UNISSA, MUI to turn spotlight on Islamic world challenges

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) received a delegation from the national level Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and Religious Scholars Council (MUI) of Riau Province, Indonesia recently.

UNISSA Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, while welcoming the delegation, briefed them on the establishment of UNISSA.

The national MUI delegation comprised seven officials, led by Head of Council in Propagation and Community Development Drs Abdusshomad Buchari, while the MUI Riau Provinc delegation of eight officers was led by its Head Professor Dr Nazir Karim.

The visit aimed to forge relations and provide information on Islamic development in Southeast Asia.

The MUI and UNISSA are working together to reach-out to the public and inform them of Islamic world challenges, and plans to hold a seminar or journal-writing for Muslims to uphold the teachings of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jama’ah.

UNISSA Acting Deputy Rector Dr Arman bin Haji Asmad, deans of faculties and centre directors at UNISSA were also present.
