Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) received a visit from 36 representatives of Sabah writers, researchers as well as students from the Kadazan Dusun Murut Rungus Sabah Malaysia Writers’ Club (Momogunsia), Kent Institute of Higher Education and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPI) recently.

The visit was part of the Cross-Border Ethnic Language, Literature and Culture Expedition programme to Brunei Darussalam.

The programme included a knowledge convention titled ‘Sabah and Brunei Ethnic Language and Literature.’ Seminar papers were delivered by two Sabah representatives – Dr Raymond Majumah and Dr Rosliah Kiting – and Dr Hajah Asiyah Az-Zahra binti Haji Ahmad Kumpoh from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at UBD and Muhd Norazmie bin Mohd Yusof from the Language Centre.

The visit aimed to strengthen relations; establish cooperation for the development of language, culture, literature and ethnic oral traditions between the two countries; integrate regional culture to foster closer national relationship; offer more experience as well as knowledge of local wisdom; and facilitate participants’ ability to produce writing ideas that touch on the sensitivities of the people in both countries.
