The eighth edition of Startup Weekend Brunei (SWB): Food Tech Edition held from December 6 will end today at Laksamana College of Business (LCB).
It is held in conjunction with the Brunei December Festival 2019 and supported by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT).
The event is organised by Startup Weekend Brunei community leaders, made up of a team of entrepreneurs comprising EICO Enterprise, InTurn Co and The Creative Core BN, all based at the iCentre, Anggerek Desa Technology Park.
Working alongside the organising team are major stakeholders in the community consisting of DARe (Darussalam Enterprise) – Ecosystem partner, Progresif – Strategic partner, Laksamana College of Business as venue sponsor, and Royal Brunei Airlines and Thirsty Habit as the prize sponsors.
Startup Weekend Brunei Food Tech edition focussed on how to address and tackle problems around the food industry. With an element of technology and innovation, participants must team up and revolutionise the food industry within 54 hours.
Participants need to figure out a way in making our food system sustainably efficient locally and globally, especially with the exponential growth of the population worldwide.
Participants will need to address topics such as Agriculture/Urban Farming, Smart Packaging, Food Services, Food Waste, Food Production/Distribution, Food Processing/manufacturing and Commercial/Retail.
The mentors for this edition are; Chen Ching Yee from Grub Cycle Malaysia, Aizuddin Fakhri from Naindah.com and KadaiRuncit.com, Louise Mabulo form The Cacao Project Philippines, Mariah Zaharaa Abdullah from Oddbox Pictures, Albert Shim from Manamakan.com, Azri Jumat from Rotuku, and Fatin Arifin from Brunei Halal.
