Six groups to put best foot forward at dance final

Six dance groups will strike their best moves at the inaugural Rentak Optima final dance competition organised at the Jerudong Park Amphitheatre on December 28 at 8pm. Admission is free for the public.

Radio Television Brunei (RTB) is holding the competition in search of fresh talents in the art of dance, and to promote creativity among youth.

The six dance groups are ESDC, S-Vitality, Bruhooders, Studio Elevé, Mahkota Dance Group and Warith Budaya. The winner will take home BND5,000 plus prizes, while second and third place winners will bag BND4,000 and BND3,000 plus prizes. The remaining groups will each receive BND1,500. The Best Choreography Award winner will receive BND500.

Details of the competition were revealed following the signing of sponsorship agreements yesterday.

Rentak Optima producer Hajah Zaimah binti Pengarah Haji Abdul Rahman, Rentak Optima Executive Producer Ching Viviyanti binti Ching Hasan, RTB Acting Head of TV Programmes Aminah binti Metali and RTB Head of Planning and Broadcasting Section Hajah Hasiah binti Ali attended the press conference.

Ching Viviyanti said, “We conducted a survey from the beginning of the programme and have received positive feedback from viewers, with 92 per cent of them being of the opinion that it has potential to become a popular programme. The majority of the responders interested in the programme are aged between 20- 34.”

Hajah Zaimah said for the final, teams will have to compete in traditional and modern dances, with both local and foreigners judging the final.

Several other artists will perform including Fakhrul Razi, Zed Peace as well as dancers from Dazzlers and Soul Industry. There will also be quizzes for the public.

Ching Viviyanti said the programme aims to support the creative industry by creating passion for the art of cultural dance and healthy competition, as well as inspire innovation through the dance art form.

The finalists will also have the opportunity to perform in RTB programmes or entertainment programmes co-produced with overseas broadcasters.

Five episodes are being recorded for the reality programme. Episode 1 focusses on the first auditioning, Episode 2 on second auditioning, Episode 3 offers behind the scene clips, Episode 4 will prelude the Rentak Optima Roadshow, and Episode 5 covers the grand finale.

The competition will also be aired live on RTB Aneka, RTB Sukmaindera, RTBGo and RTB Youtube.
