Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre (PTES) held a Science fair to mark the 10th anniversary of the Katok Sixth Form Centre (PTEK) and PTES recently.
Science teachers and students organised the event.
The school received an audience of enthusiastic Year 6 students from four neighbouring primary schools.
Chemistry Department Head Mohammad Hanapiah bin Haji Ismail outlined the objectives of the event, which included to inculcate an interest in Science amongst primary school students, to inspire them to acquire new knowledge, gain experiences and encourage advancements in numeracy, literacy and technology.
A speech was delivered by Principal Haji Jafri bin Haji Suhaili.
Upper sixth students Ibnu and Jason, who won first place in the OGDC Science Show Competition 2018, showcased their vacuum cleaner cum blower built entirely from recycled materials.
To cultivate interest in the Sciences, the students then observed demonstrations and exhibitions at the Science laboratories.
For Biology, the Year 6 students had the opportunity to examine the organs of dissected animals. Interesting science-related activities were also held to help students gain a good insight into the location of organs in the human body.
