With the consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) Air Chief Marshal Maanat Wongwat was presented with the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) Honorary Pilot Wing in recognition for his service in advancing the ties between the RBAirF and the RTAF.
Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat presented the award to Air Chief Marshal Maanat Wongwat.
Air Chief Marshal Maanat Wongwat is in Brunei Darussalam for the award presentation and his introductory visit to the RBAirF. On arriving at the RBAirF Base in Rimba, he was received with an honorary salute by a guard of honour comprised of personnel from the RBAirF, followed by the presentation of the RBAirF Honorary Pilot Wing.
He also paid a courtesy call on Acting Minister of Defence Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof.
Both sides affirmed the friendly relations between the two countries and acknowledged various areas of bilateral defence and military cooperation, as well as multilateral initiatives within the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus).
Air Chief Marshal Maanat Wongwat also made a courtesy call on Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah. The RBAirF and the RTAF interact regularly through a broad number of exchanges and exercises, which have deepened the mutual understanding and camaraderie between the two air forces.
Air Chief Marshal Maanat Wongwat was appointed as the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force on October 1.
