Religious ceremony marks safe return of peacekeepers

A Doa Kesyukuran ceremony for the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) 15th International Monitoring Team (IMT) contingent and peacekeepers embedded with the Malaysian Battalion 850-6 (MALBATT 850-6) of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) was held at Surau Ad-Difa’, Bolkiah Garrison yesterday.

The 15th IMT comprising seven RBAF personnel and an officer from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) led by Lieutenant Colonel Mohd Rizal bin Haji Abdul Hadi returned home on September 6. Meanwhile, the UNIFIL peacekeepers comprising 29 RBAF personnel led by Major Daud bin Etim returned home on November 10.

The event began with a mass Asar prayer followed by the recitation of Doa Kesyukuran and Dikir Marhaban led by Imam of Surau Ad-Difa’ Shuib bin Haji Abdullah.

Commander of the RBAF Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud was present with members of the Defence Executive Committee, directors, senior officers and personnel from the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and RBAF.
