The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) through the Community Development Department (JAPEM) in collaboration with the Persons with Different Abilities Welfare Council, held a Tahlil ceremony at the Royal Mausoleum in Jalan Tutong. It was held in conjunction with the International Day of Persons with Different Abilities (HAOKU) celebrated every December 3.
The nine associations under the Persons with Different Abilities Welfare Council are – Paraplegic and Physically Disabled Association (PAPDA), Society for the Management on Autism Related issues in Training Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei, Centre for Children with Special Needs (KACA), Brunei Darussalam National Association of the Blind (BDNAB), National Association for the Hearing-Impaired (OKP); Learning Ladders Society and Down Syndrome Association and Special Olympics Brunei Darussalam (SOBD).
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (R) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin was the guest of honour.
The Tahlil ceremony for the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman began with the recitation of Surah Yaasiin led by Mosque Affairs Officer Mohd Amin bin Haji Salim.
Meanwhile, a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony was held at Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Mosque, Kampong Sungai Akar by MCYS through JAPEM and Persons with Different Abilities Welfare Council.
The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports was the guest of honour.
The event began with a mass Maghrib prayer followed by recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil.
The Doa Kesyukuran was led by a visually impaired student from the Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Haji Md Khairul Zaman bin Haji Md Salleh. This was followed by a religious talk by Bahri bin Bohari.
The ceremony concluded with a mass Isyak prayer.
