Lumapas Religious School was placed first in the Primary, Religious, Arabic Preparatory and Private Schools category of the Maulidur Rasul Procession Competition 1441 Hijrah held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Jalan Dewan Majlis on Saturday.
Lambak Kanan Religious School was placed second followed by Masin Religious School.
Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) was the winner under the Secondary School, Arabic School, Higher Education Institution, College and Private School category.
Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) was placed second and Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah was placed third.
Under the Government Ministry and Department category, the Ministry of Education was placed first followed by the Ministry of Development and Ministry of Defence.
The Private Sector and Association category was won by Indonesian Community Association (PERMAI), followed by Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru) and Pertubuhan Zaidana in third place.
Under the Village and Mosque Takmir category, Perdana Wangsa Haji Mohammad Mosque of Kampong Setia was placed first, Takmir Committee and Mosque Youth of Kampong Perpindahan Serasa Mosque in second place and Saudaraku Kampong Setia in third.
In the Special Prize category, Lumapas Religious School won the Primary, Religious, Arabic Preparatory and Private Schools category while IBTE won the Secondary School, Arabic School, Higher Education Institution, College and Private Schools category.
The Ministry of Education won the Government Ministry and Department category, Pertubuhan Zaidana, the Private Sector and Association category and Perdana Wangsa Haji Mohammad Mosque of Kampong Setia, the Village and Mosque Takmir category.
The guest of honour, Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman presented the prizes to the winners.
With the theme Meneladani Muamalat Rasulullah Sallalahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam, the Maulidur Rasul Procession held on November 9, saw 12,900 individuals from 131 groups participating in the procession in various categories.
The winners received cash prizes and gifts. Certificates were presented to all teams participating in the procession.
The assessment of the categories took into account the presence and preparedness of the teams, the uniformity of clothing, added accessories that brought uniqueness to each team, the creativity of the framed banners and the neatness of rows before the beginning of the event.
The champions in all categories received BND3,500, gifts as well as certificates of participation.
Teams in second place in all categories received BND2,500, gifts and certificates of participation and the teams in third place in all categories received BND1,500, gifts and certificates of participation.
Certificates of appreciation were also presented to the judges.
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang were also present.
