Brunei beat Indonesia 8-1 in SEA Games polo

Brunei Darussalam’s polo team got off to a perfect start in the 0-2 low goal event at the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games after overpowering Indonesia 8-1 at the Miguel Romero Polo Field in Calatagan, Batangas yesterday.

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen and Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah were in attendance to watch the match.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah led the team, who will be seeking their second medal in this year’s competition following the exploits of another team that competed in the 4-6 high goal.

Also in attendance at the match was Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Bahar.

The national polo team also comprised captain Muhamad Farid Abdullah, Huzaimi bin Haji Mahari and Idris Sirat.

Meanwhile, in the other preliminary round match, Malaysia edged the Philippines 6-5.5.

The competition continues today with both Brunei and Malaysia looking for their second win while Indonesia and Philippines meet each other.

Brunei will conclude the preliminary round match against the Philippines this Sunday with Malaysia taking on Indonesia.
