The link between faith (iman) and charity (sadaqah) was highlighted in yesterday’s pre-dawn talk at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital.
“Charity is the act of giving something to someone without seeking any reward and with the intention of pleasing Allah the Almighty,” said trainee religious teacher at the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) Muhammad Abdussalam bin Haji Jahari.
“Charity is closely related to faith; our charitable contributions reflect the measure of our faith, which can have an impact in this world and the hereafter.”
Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was present at the event. Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat; Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof; and Permanent Secretary at the MinDef Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma’awiah, as well as the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MinDef; and senior officials, officers and staff of MinDef and RBAF were also present.
Yesterday’s pre-dawn talk was jointly organised by the MoRA and MinDef, with the support of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), as part of the weekly Masjidku Makmur, Negara Berkat programme to draw more participation for the Subuh prayer at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque.
