Three youth were arrested for stealing tyres and rims from parked cars recently.

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) said Muhammad Azem Hazwan bin Abdul Razak, 22, and Mohd Shahrulddin bin Mohd Sopihan, 18, together with an unnamed 16-year-old, had stolen four tyres from a car in the Serusop commercial area on September 24.

The three had used bricks to support the vehicle after removing the tyres.

Four tyres with rims were stolen from a car in the parking area of Kampong Sungai Bunga on October 14.

All three were produced before the Magistrate’s Court to face charges under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 22.

Muhammad Azem Hazwan was sentenced to eight weeks’ imprisonment, while Mohd Shahrulddin was ordered to remain in custody until the next mention.

The 16-year-old was released on bail, until a further mention of the case.

The RBPF reminded the public to park their vehicles in well-lit areas and to avoid dark places away from surveillance cameras.
