Nationwide prayers for road traffic victims

The Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) held a mass Maghrib prayer, recitation of Surah Yaasiin, Tahlil and Doa Kesyukuran in four districts to mark World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims yesterday.

It was jointly organised by the Brunei National Road Safety Council (BNRSC) and Department of Civil Aviation (DCA). In the Brunei-Muara District, the ceremony took place at the Ash-Shaliheen Mosque, Prime Minister’s Office Complex.

Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof was present.

Permanent Secretary at the MTIC Haji Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Infocommunications, Cyber-security, Strategy and Corporate) at the MTIC Haji Hairul Mohammad Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim; Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Transport) at the MTIC Pengiran Haji Mohd Zain bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Razak were also present.

The ceremony began with the mass Maghrib prayer followed by recitation of Surah Yaasiin, Tahlil and Doa Kesyukuran and concluded with the mass Isyak prayer led by Imam of Ash-Shaliheen Mosque Anuar bin Haji Salim.

Similar ceremonies took place in the other districts.

In Belait District, the religious ceremony was held at Pekan Seria Mosque. Legislative Council (LegCo) member and Penghulu of Mukim Liang Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin was the guest of honour.

LegCo member and Village Head of Kampong Labi 1 Yang Berhormat Hanapi bin Mohd Siput; Belait District Officer Ramlee bin Haji Jamudin; mukim penghulus, village heads, members of the BNRSC and MTIC officers and staff as well as residents from the surrounding area was present.

The ceremony began with a mass Maghrib prayer, recitation of Sunat Ba’diyah, Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil led by Mosque Affairs Officer Imam Haji Aminorddin bin Haji Mohd Yussof before concluding with mass Isyak prayer.

LegCo member Yang Berhormat Haji Umarali bin Esung and Tutong District Officer Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain attended the ceremony at the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque, Pekan Tutong.

In the Temburong District, the ceremony was held at Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque, Bangar. Acting Temburong District Officer Abdul Ghani bin Haji Othman was in attendance.

BNRSC called on all road users to start their journey by reciting prayers; to be cautious while on the road; obey the traffic rules; and practice proper road etiquettes.
