CIC Environmental Services and the Centre of Advanced Material and Energy Sciences (CAMES) of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that will enable research collaboration efforts between industry and local research institutions.
The MoU was signed by CIC Chief Executive Officer Shaiful Arief Dato Abdul Razak and Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Innovation and Enterprise) of UBD Associate Professor Dr Mohammad Ayub Sadiq @ Lin Naing recently. This MoU is a form of commitment in developing Bruneian-led research and industrial innovation.
CIC Environmental Services was incorporated in 1997. CIC is a waste management company that specialises in hydrocarbon and hazardous waste management in industries in Brunei Darussalam. CIC is one of the leading professional waste management companies listed under the Ministry of Development and Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe).
The signing of the MoU further advances CIC’s commitment to local development – with a workforce consisting of 97 per cent locals, CIC is committed to further developing ‘in country’ value. CIC hopes that the research efforts from the MoU are fruitful and contribute to Brunei’s local industries and academic institutions.
UBD’s CAMES was formed in 2015 with the primary function of conducting research in the fields of energy and advanced materials to attain sustainable living. CAMES provides a platform for researchers and industries from various fields to come together to conceptualise ideas, and find solutions to problems pertaining to energy and advanced material. CAMES’ mission is to support economic diversification through innovations and high quality graduate training. This research collaboration will be the second of its kind for CAMES.
