A local man was sentenced to 28 months’ imprisonment by the Intermediate Court on Monday, after he pleaded guilty to committing criminal breach of trust (CBT).
Deputy Public Prosecutor Affyian bin Abdul Rahman informed Judge Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Datu Juragan Laila Diraja Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Kefli that Muhammad Wan Kashful Hadi Kong bin Abdullah had sold off properties belonging to his employing company, earning BND14,492 from the illegal sales.
The defendant, a supervisor at a company, committed these offences on several occasions between March 23 and November 20, by selling metal sling wires as scrap metal to a recycling company.
He sought the help of the company truck drivers, whom he told that these were instructions from Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP). Meanwhile, he told the recycling company that the metal sling wires were no longer needed by his employing company.
His acts first came to light when the contract manager at his employing company came across discrepancies in data entries on the storage of the metal sling wires.
An investigation into the matter was conducted on December 7, which led to the discovery of the defendant’s actions.
