Lim Young Wee emerged winners of the 8th Master Alim Novice 9-Ball Tournament after he defeated Jonathan Diaz 7-3 in the final at the Master Alim Pool Cafe in Kiulap.

Fadia Nurul Huda and Md Izzat Hanawi, a relatively new name in the local circuit, ran deep in the tournament having been stopped in the semi-final phase.

A total of 59 entriesvied for top honours before the field was trimmed down to the last 24 players, whereby the format of play switched from a double to single elimination round.

The field has increased drastically since the inaugural edition of the tournament when a modest 24 players took part in May 2018.

Certain groups of participants were ineligible for entry in the tournament, particularly the current national top eight players based on the 2018 rankings, previous novice champions and former national players.

The tournament was organised by the Master Alim Pool Brunei and supported by the Brunei Darussalam Cue Sports Association, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
