A group of 48 Umrah pilgrims departed for the holy city of Madinah yesterday, under the Al-Hijrah Travel and Tours Umrah package.

The pilgrims were flown first to Kuala Lumpur on Royal Brunei Airlines, before boarding a connecting flight to Madinah by way of Saudi Arabian Airlines. They will spend 13 days performing Umrah, as well as visiting historical sites in Madinah, Makkah, Ta’if and Jeddah.

Accompanying the group as Umrah officials were Managing Director of Al-Hijrah Haji Shamsul Baharin bin Haji Abdul Rahman and Executive Director of Al-Hijrah Haji Md Yunos bin Haji Taha. Over the last few years, December has been a popular month for performing Umrah, due to the long school holidays and the cool weather.

One of the pilgrims, who is travelling with her husband and three sons said, “We had been planning to go on this trip for quite some time. Alhamdulillah, we finally found the right opportunity during this long school break.”

This is the first Umrah package conducted by Al-Hijrah, after acquiring its licence last October as an authorised agent for tourism and travel services.
