Green Brunei gets a taste of life in rural Belait

Fifteen committee members and volunteers from Green Brunei experienced life in rural Belait recently.

Legislative Council (LegCo) member and Community Engagement Director at Green Brunei Yang Berhormat Dayang Khairunnisa binti Awang Haji Ash’ari led the group. They were welcomed by Women’s Bureau and Committee of the Teraja Long House.

The visit was aimed at providing knowledge to the participants on the potential of eco-tourism in Belait District, especially in the rural areas.

The participants were briefed on the development of the Teraja Long House by member of the Long House’s Women’s Bureau Embong Munah. She talked about the expansion of the long house to accommodate the change in times as well as for eco-tourism.

The Long House committee member Gaung Jamit talked about the strides made in the tourism sector as well as how it left a positive impact on past visitors.

Among the activities the visiting group participated included a mat weaving demonstration and traditional cooking methods.
