GHK sealed third place in the Veteran Low San Shield category of the Low San Brunei Basketball Open after an 86-70 win over Burger King at the Brunei Basketball Association Court in Batu Bersurat last night.
GHK’s Daniel Chung enjoyed a blinder after posting a game high of 37 points while teammate Foo Kian Ming contributed with 15 points. Burger King’s Jomel Datuin notched 22 points in a losing effort.
The quarter has seen GHK taking an 11-point lead owed to their tactical approach of containing the Burger King attack. Burger King kept tabs with GHK as Jose Mari Espino won a turnover which led to a fast break before a teammate narrowed the gap.
With GHK’s organised defence holding off Burger King, Datuin stole the ball to give his side vital points and a route back to the game.
Burger King had possession on the final few seconds of the quarter for one final shot but the attack led to nothing, leaving GHK to seize control of the contest with a double digit lead.
GHK remained in control in the second half of the tie to win by 16 points.
