Four fined for cigarette butt littering

Three locals and a Filipino were fined BND100 each by the Law Enforcement Unit under the Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Municipal Department for violating the Minor Offences Act Section 12(1)(A) Chapter 30 by disposing cigarette butts in public areas.

The local offenders are Sayyid Muhammad Abdullah bin Haji Adanan, who committed the offence at Seri Delima building in Kampong Serusop; Faizatul Nazeerah binti Mohamad Nadi Nabillah at the Pengkalan Kiulap road; and Zamratularfah binti Haji Moklin at the Bumiputra commercial and trade building.

Apollo Virgilio Sanguir Lagmay committed the offence at a commercial building in Kiulap.

The offenders need to settle the compound fines within seven days at the third floor of the BSB Municipal Department.

Failure to do so, the matter will be forwarded to the court and a further BND1,000 fine will be levied, or a month’s imprisonment, for the first convicted offence.

A penalty of BND3,000 and a jail term not exceeding three months will be handed for subse-quent offences.
