Educational visit for students

A group of student leaders of Tutong Sixth Form Centre (PTET) visited Seri Melati Company at Kampong Kuala Tutong, as part of the Qa’id Asyummul Camp (leadership camp) recently.

The company manufacture fibreglass boat and household products since 1976. It was owned by Haji Mahmood bin Damit and is now managed by his son, Haji Abdul Rashid bin Haji Mahmood.

Upon arrival, the students were briefed on the company by Haji Abdul Rashid. They toured the company facilities and different types of boats displayed in the workshop.

The students observed the making of fibreglass boat, how to mix colours for the paint and different types of fibreglass. There was also a demonstration on how they glued the fibreglass on the boat mould.

The company also makes household products such as table and fire extinguishers for the local fire departments. The visit concluded with the presentation of token of appreciation and lunch.
